Estimate the rate at which pointer events reach this browser. Treat it as a diagnostic, not a laboratory USB measurement.
Desktop mouse or trackpad only. Click Start and move continuously in circles inside this box for at least 3 seconds.
Sample: 0 dispatched mouse pointer events · 0.0s · 0 rate windows.
This counter uses dispatched mouse pointermove events. It does not expand getCoalescedEvents() or read USB reports. The sample display gives the number of events, actual elapsed seconds and rate windows, so you can see the evidence behind the average.
| Observation | Interpretation and next check |
|---|---|
| 600 events over 5.0s | 120 browser events/s. This arithmetic example does not establish a 125Hz USB setting. |
| Peak high; average much lower | Pauses and pointer time outside the box count in elapsed time. Repeat a continuous circle for five seconds. |
| Reading clusters around display cadence | Browser scheduling or coalescing can limit dispatched events. Compare another foreground browser while keeping the device setting fixed. |
| Zero samples | Use a mouse or trackpad and move inside the box after Start. Touch and pen events are intentionally excluded. |
Run three five-second samples in a foreground tab with continuous movement. Record the device setting separately from the observed average. MDN documents how pointer updates can be merged into one event; a low browser reading alone is not evidence of a faulty mouse.
Result guide
The tool estimates how frequently mouse/trackpad pointer-move events reach the page while you move the pointer. Touch and pen movement are ignored so the result stays scoped to desktop pointing input.
For Geometry Dash, polling rate is secondary to consistent input timing. Use this diagnostic only when investigating mouse behavior; use the CPS and wave tools when the goal is actual repeated-input practice.
Browser pointer-event frequency is not the same as a direct USB polling-rate measurement. Event coalescing, the display refresh rate, the operating system and the browser can all change the number you see.
